Continuation
OK, firstly, sorry Nancy :P I didn't think what I posted in the last post was THAT dirty. I mean, it really depends on how you interpret it, and though I intended the reader to interpret it in a certain way, I didn't mean any harm by it. I mean, we're all sexual creatures, and penting it all up can be quite dreadful. (Why am I writing so ...british like now..maybe it has something to do with watching Pride and Prejudice :P)
So back to my mission to finish reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Before this, I'd like to share about something I read in a newspaper article. The writer was trying to explain the need for religion. Paraprhasing from his article, it all started to when man started making tools. Man soon realised that for each of his action, came a consequence. Tools means better and more food. Fire means better food and better protection from the elements and beasts. As life became more comfortable for man, they soon realised that the weather and natural events too must have a 'reason' for coming to be. Hence his seeking for a 'higher power'. And in this way, man 'invented' the idea of God. e.g. god of fire, god of lightning...etc
I don't really agree with his explanation. Rather, I believe God intended to reveal himself to His creations. Man didn't 'invent' God, God revealed himself to them. Man is in general, quite stupid. I think if God wanted to hide Himself from man, we would never in our whole period of existence on earth, think of Him. Look at how easily caught up we are with 'little things'. Fights over who owns what, desires which in the long term don't really mean anything, worries over things which in most cases are out of our hands...we are actually quite self absorbed.
So yea, back to the catechism.
Article 2: The Transmission of Divine Revelation
In keeping with the Lord's command, the Gospel was handed on in 2 ways:
i) orally "by the apostles who handed on, by the spoken word of their preaching, by the example they gave, by the institutions they estabilshed, what they themselves had received - whether from the lips of Christ, from his way of life and his works, or whether they had learned it at the prompting of the Holy Spirit
ii)in writing "by those apostles and other men associated with the apostles who, under the inspiration of the same Holy Spirit, committed the message of salvation to writing"
I truly believe in this, in that there's more to be known about Christianity outside the bible. I'm not undermining the importance of the bible in any way, but I disagree when people say 'The bible is all we need'. I've heard so many people say different things about one passage in the bible. The annoying thing? They force it upon you saying that they're right because they prayed before reading, and the Holy Spirit revealed it to them. But I ask "What if 2 people both prayed and both say something different, not completely contradictory, but different, what then?"

i must confess i didn't talk about her to God every night.. but this morning after i finished my design writeup for my part.... i head to bed, and i did talk to God about your grandma :-) I'll keep praying for her, i promise!
I didn't know u watch pride and prejudice too! hold on.. did u watch the drama or the movie? if it's the drama, I was just IN LOVE with it before.... Mr. Darcy... awwwwww...... he's just so nice.. I used to be so crazy about the whole drama.. aii..
ya i don't agree with that guy either... but for me, i find all those discussions about God and whatever quite pointless. For me, I just need to know God is real, He loves me, and that's all I need to know. I just want to love him back as much as he had loved me.... becos that's all it matters to me! haha.. that's just waht i think la.. ^^
add oil for design, take everything easy... god's watching over you, what more would you need!
